There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Titans 2020 season.

There is a lot of things in the world to be uncertain about at the moment. Recently, the whole world has been flying by the seat of their pants as we all go on this crazy, and arguably scary, journey together. Sports are no different than anything else when it comes to this. In fact, I would say the sports world is about as uncertain as it gets. Titans fans, especially for the next couple of days, are completely in the dark on how several things are going to play out.

In the most recent episode of the Titans Time Podcast, we discussed all of the things to be uncertain about as a Titans fan right now. Be sure to follow the podcast, or subscribe on Apple, if you enjoy it.

NFL Season / Titans 2020 Season

If there is anything highly questionable at the moment, it is the NFL season. The next few weeks will be very telling about how the NFL season will proceed. As the NBA and the MLB both start their seasons, we will get a good idea about how realistic it is for these leagues to run during these trying times.

Two NFL preseason games have already been cancelled, and there is no telling whether or not the other two will also be cancelled.

Hopefully, things will go well for other sports’ seasons so that the NFL has a much better chance of actually happening. One thing is for sure, we could use sports now more than ever.

Derrick Henry’s contract negotiations

By Wednesday, we will know if Derrick Henry will be playing the 2020 NFL season on a lucrative new deal or not.

As of now, the Titans have Derrick Henry on a franchise-tag, which is worth $10.2 million, so he is still a Titan for next year regardless.

Jon Robinson has made it known several times that he wants Henry to be a Tennessee Titan long-term, though.

Derrick Henry likes playing for the Tennessee Titans, so I believe there is a good chance that he spends many more seasons with the team. It might be a good move for the Titans to let him play on the franchise-tag for 2020, though. After losing fan attendance due to COVID-19, the NFL may have to lower the salary cap in the next year. If that is the case, negotiating next offseason rather than now might be a better move for the team.

It’s unclear as of now what will happen with Derrick Henry or the salary cap. Knowing that Henry is a Titan no matter what for next season should ease fans nerves a bit.

Clowney watch

The Philadelphia Eagles have been rumored to be making a big roster change soon. There is no clarification on what this roster move is, but plenty of people have spent lots of time and energy trying to figure it out.

Obviously, the original reaction was that the Eagles are going to announce they are signing Jadeveon Clowney, which is a possibility. Clowney has been a huge part of this offseason, and an end to the Clowney watch would actually be a bit of a relief. Even if it didn’t end with him as a Tennessee Titan.

Another possibility is that there is a huge trade for the Eagles to acquire Yannick Ngakoue, who requested a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the offseason.

Only 4 days ago, Ngakoue tweeted “Blessed” leading some people to think that he may have been traded.

Either way, the uncertainty continues to surround Jadeveon Clowney. There is no telling what he is going to do or where he will end up playing next season.
