Titans vs Steelers: The Pittsburgh Steelers have the best defense that the Titans will face in 2020.

The Tennessee Titans will square off with the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 4 of the NFL regular season in 2020. This will be a home game for the Titans at Nissan Stadium on October 4th. If fans will actually be able to attend the game to cheer on the Titans is still TBD.

The last time we saw a Titans vs Steelers matchup was on Thursday night football in 2017. The Steelers thrashed the Titans 40-17, mostly thanks to Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown. Brown embarrassed the Titans on national TV, like he did many teams, finishing with 144 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Steelers are facing a much different Titans team in 2020, and if they want to come out with the win again they are going to have to rely much more on their defense. Ben Roethlisberger is coming off of an elbow injury after an 0-2 start to the 2019 season and Antonio Brown? Well, his status for the 2020 season, much like the fans, is TBD. The Steelers best offensive weapon is JuJu Smith-Schuster, and he wasn’t very impressive last season.

Meanwhile, the Steelers defense is loaded with talent.

  • TJ Watt
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick
  • Joe Haden
  • Stephon Tuitt
  • Cameron Hayward
  • Bud Dupree
  • Devin Bush
  • Steven Nelson

The Steelers have kept their core defense from the 2019 season intact going into 2020, so it’s likely we see them have the same success next season.

According to Fox Sports, in 2019 the Steelers defense ranked 4th in points allowed per game, first in sacks, second in interceptions, and second in forced fumbles. Overall, I would say that gives them if not the best then the second best defense in the NFL last season.

With Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges as the replacement QBs for Big Ben, the Steelers defense carried them as far as they could, almost making the playoffs finishing 8-8.

Titans vs Steelers 2020

When the Titans face the Steelers in 2020 they will find that the Steelers have the best defense of all the teams on their schedule next season. TJ Watt and Bud Dupree will constantly be after Ryan Tannehill, and Casey Hayward and Stephon Tuitt will do their best to keep Derrick Henry in check. It is hard to find a weakness vs the Steelers defense, even their secondary is tough. Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joe Haden will try to lead the Steelers to another season ranking top 3 in interceptions.

The Titans vs Steelers matchup will be one of the most exciting games on the Titans schedule to watch. I think that, as usual, Derrick Henry wearing down the defense before finally breaking a couple of big runs will be the key. If the Steelers keep Derrick Henry in check, it will be hard for Ryan Tannehill in the passing game. But, if Henry wears them down early, look for several Ryan Tannehill play action bombs.

If you don’t believe the Steelers have one of the best defenses in the NFL, let Titan Upload tell you why you’re wrong.
